1. Tell us about your experience in our Digital Illustration classes!
I have had a ton of fun in the illustration class. Ms.Tory is really nice and my classmates are very energetic. I like the prompts, and when I have difficulty, Ms.Tory always gives good advice. I really can't stress how amazing she is. Not just as a teacher, although she is super talented and amazing as a teacher, but also as a person. She creates a safe place to share our thoughts and is great to talk to when I have the time. Not to mention, her taste in music is great. I would love to spend more time with her in a quieter class.
2. Which class did you enjoy the most (from DI1 - 5), and why?
It's hard to decide on which class I liked the most because they all were amazing. Besides the fact that I didn't take Digital Illustration 1. I think if I did take that it may have been my favorite, just because it would have been nice to work on character refs, although I don't think it was particularly necessary for me. I think DI4 may be my favorite. We made art for T-shirts and Ms. Tory added funny quotes to them. Overall, I enjoyed the prompts in that class the most.
3. What is your favorite digital art piece that you made, and why?
Most-likely the second prompt in DI4. We made realistic versions of characters. I took a character I had already developed and made him realistic. We learned to photo brush a bit, well, at least I did, I'm not sure if I was supposed to use the technique on that project. It was fun looking at the original photo and comparing it to how drastically different my final was.
4. Can you tell us why you chose to learn digital illustration at NYSA? Tell us how the instructor has helped your development!
I was originally just in the portfolio, although when I heard that digital illustration was a class, I was so excited. Ms. Tory is possibly one of the best teachers I have ever had. She's so supportive and gives great critiques. She even helps outside of classes, which is admirable since she is so terribly busy.
