This all-level pottery course is designed for adults interested in learning or expanding their skills in ceramics. Whether you're a beginner or a continuing student, this class provides structured guidance and creative exploration across hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques.
Beginners will start with foundational skills—learning how to center clay on the wheel, control speed, and build forms using slabs and coils. The course introduces key ceramic processes such as scoring, slip application, and glazing. Class projects will include a slab-built piece, a coil-built piece, and a set of wheel-thrown vessels.
For returning and advanced students, the course offers extended challenges including decorative surface treatments, more complex wheel forms, and independent projects. Instruction is tailored to students’ experience levels, and advanced participants will continue developing their personal style through focused critique and experimentation.
The class is divided into phases—starting with hand-building, transitioning into wheel-throwing, and concluding with glazing and a group critique.
